Guardly is an Android anti-theft app provided by SAV Technologies, based in Bangladesh. This policy explains what the app and website process, why information is needed, and how you control it. For privacy questions, email [email protected].
Photos and video
- Camera permission lets Guardly capture photos and video when enabled protection events occur, including a failed-unlock response after your selected attempt count. You can also run capture tests.
- Front and back camera recordings may include the person holding the phone and their surroundings. Capture depends on your settings, permissions and Android restrictions.
- Media is saved in app-private storage. If you enable email or Drive delivery, captured files can also be sent to your chosen recipients or uploaded to your Google account.
- The app does not send incident media to a Guardly-operated evidence server.
Location information
- When incident location is enabled and permission is granted, Guardly obtains an available device position and saves it with the incident.
- Background location permission supports enabled incident features when the app is not visible. A saved position can be approximate or based on a previously available location.
- Android location and geocoding services may process coordinates to provide a position or place name. Opening a saved map position sends that information to the map service you choose.
- Location may be included in alert emails when that feature is enabled.
Microphone access
Microphone permission allows sound to be recorded when the enabled video feature uses audio. Audio becomes part of the video and follows the same storage and delivery choices as that recording.
Device protection and app settings
- Device administrator access enables supported credential-failure callbacks and screen locking. Guardly’s administrator policies do not include erasing the device.
- Incident records can contain event type, time, failed-attempt counts, descriptions, media references and available location. Settings and activity logs help operate protection and record its status.
- Android does not provide Guardly with the PIN, password, screen-unlock pattern or biometric templates used to unlock your phone. App-lock authentication uses Android’s authentication interface.
- Notifications, foreground services, restart handling, vibration and wake capabilities support the protection, recording and alarm features you enable.
Gmail alerts
- Connecting Gmail lets Guardly send test messages and incident alerts from your selected account to the addresses you specify. Alerts may contain device model, incident details, location or a map link, photos and video.
- Google authorization requests the
gmail.sendpermission. This permission allows sending messages; it does not allow Guardly to read your inbox or manage your contacts. - Guardly stores selected account and recipient addresses in app-private settings. Google authorization services provide the access needed to perform the feature.
- If you configure the optional Gmail app-password method, that app password is saved in app-private preferences and used for an encrypted SMTP connection to Gmail. Do not enter your normal Google account password.
- Sending requires connectivity and valid authorization. Recipients and their email providers can retain, download or forward delivered messages.
Google Drive uploads
- Drive backup is optional. When enabled, selected photos and videos are uploaded directly from the device to your Google Drive.
- The
drive.filepermission covers files Guardly creates or files you explicitly make available to it, rather than unrestricted access to your entire Drive. - Guardly creates folders organized by device model, media type and date. It reads relevant file and folder metadata to locate these folders and avoid duplicate uploads.
- Files already uploaded remain in your Google account if the app is uninstalled or the phone is lost or erased. Deleting app data does not delete those cloud files.
Google account data and Limited Use
Google account information and authorization are used to provide the email and backup features you request. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized AI models. Guardly’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Google processes information under its Privacy Policy. Review or revoke Guardly’s connection through Google Account connections. Revocation prevents future authorized access; it does not delete messages already delivered or files already uploaded.
Purchases, diagnostics and advertising
Google Play processes purchases where available. Guardly uses purchase receipts, tokens, signatures and entitlement status to check paid access; purchase receipts are cached in encrypted private storage. Guardly does not receive your payment-card details through Play Billing.
The current app includes no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Android, Google Play and device manufacturers may process their own diagnostics under their own policies. We do not sell incident media or location data.
Private storage and security
Settings, incident records and media are held in app-private Android storage. Incident photos and videos are stored as media files; private storage does not mean every file is separately encrypted. Some records, including purchase caches and the manual probe photo, use device-local encryption. Android cloud backup is disabled for Guardly’s app data.
Google API connections use HTTPS; the optional Gmail SMTP connection uses TLS. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep your device and Google account secure and review the recipients you select.
Retention and removing information
- Incident-history retention defaults to 30 days. Available options include retaining records until you delete them. Scheduled cleanup depends on Android background execution.
- History deletion and retention currently remove incident database records. They do not guarantee deletion of every associated media file. Clear Guardly’s storage in Android settings or uninstall the app to remove all app-private data. Administrator access may need to be deactivated first.
- Sent email, recipients’ copies, Drive uploads and exported files are separate copies. Delete them in the relevant account or destination; their providers’ retention rules apply.
- A reset or uninstall stops the app. Guardly cannot capture or upload new evidence after it has been erased. Deletion does not guarantee forensic erasure from storage.
Website, support and service providers
Website hosting may process IP addresses, browser information, requested pages, timestamps and security logs to deliver and protect the site. WordPress can use cookies for login and administration. The custom theme does not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts or third-party fonts.
If you contact support, we receive your email address, message and attachments. Our email provider and authorized staff process them to respond and investigate your request. Do not send passwords, unlock codes or access tokens. Contact us about retention or deletion of support correspondence or website information under our control.
Google, hosting, email, Android location and mapping providers may process information outside Bangladesh under their own arrangements. User-selected recipients and export destinations receive information you direct to them. Information actually held by us may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to address fraud or security incidents.
Your permissions and privacy requests
Disable features in Guardly, change Android permissions, deactivate administrator access, revoke Google authorization, or clear app storage as appropriate. No separate Guardly account is required. We cannot retrieve app-private evidence from your phone or remove copies held by recipients.
Contact support to request access, correction or deletion of information we actually hold about you, or to raise a privacy concern. Available rights depend on applicable law, including mandatory protections where you live. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity and request.
Children and authorized use
Guardly is intended for people authorized to protect the device, not as a service directed to children. Do not use it to secretly monitor another person’s device. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information to us so we can investigate information under our control.
Updates and contact
We will update this policy when features or data practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be explained on the website or through an appropriate in-app notice, with consent requested where required.
